What Is More Important Than This?

Jesus said: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
John 17:3

Is there anything more important than knowing God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent?

More later......

  3. This is a post from your heart. And we all have the right to say as we believe. I do not seek to judge you for what building you pray in or what you are tought.
You do not go to church, you go to wards. Your temple is not for all believers of God. If you do things that your leadership do not like you can be excomunicated...kicked out. I find that very sad. In my church we pray for the person and try to help them with whatever is going on. You will delet this post and I understand why this would offend you. My question to you is this...do you believe in the Trinity..Father, son and Holly spirit? If you are going to put this out for people to read and use it as a way to get more people into your wards...then a few of us will say things you do not want to read.

    1. Hi Shopgirl,

I had to smile when I saw your name. :) It reminded me of Meg Ryan's character's username on You've Got Mail. Have you seen that movie? :)

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I like your blogs. :) I didn't see an 'email me' thing on your blog. If you don't know how to make one I can help. And I understand if you just don't want one too. :)

First I'd like to say that I agree with you in that we all have the right to say as we believe. But we don't have the right to be rude, disrespectful of others and their faith or vulgar. Comments like that would be the type that I would delete. The people that visit here should not have to be subjected to that stuff.

Now, ward is just a word like Parrish or congregation or whatever. We go to church on Sundays in church houses where everyone is welcome to visit. :) You mentioned the temples. They are special places to us. We can get married there. It is a nice beautiful place that is quiet and away from the world for a while. :) Other faiths have places that are special to them the Jewish people, the Muslim people and others. And people who are not members are not allowed in these places. When we build temples we have an open house where everyone who wants to can tour the building and hear about the purpose of temples. It is a neat thing to do if you ever get a chance. :)

      You also mentioned excommunication-
You are correct that people can be excommunicated from the church, but you don't have all the facts :) Matthew 18:15-17 talks about this so in the ancient church it was done.
What we do is the same. First, a person who has sinned against another is expected to go to that person to ask forgiveness and do all he/she can to make things right. If they have sinned against God the same is expected that he/she be willing to seek God's forgiveness. Second, if what they have done is a big sin he/she can go to the bishop (pastor). Who helps them work things out. And then it is decided if the person should be disfellowshiped for a while or not. Being disfellowshipped is just being unable to participate in some things for a few months. One can still come to meetings and enjoy being with friends there. During this time the bishop (pastor) and his councilors with him help, the person to get their life back in order. If the person refuses to do these things like in the verses then the church leaders who are above the bishop visit with the person to help them work things out. If the person is still refusing and is unrepentant and has completely turn away from the faith or turned anti then he/she may be excommunicated. Later if they change their mind and want to come back they are helped to get their life in order and may be rebaptized. Friends and family and church family pray and will always do all they can to help them back. I hope this makes the process more clear. So it is done in steps according to the bible passage shown above. :)

To answer your question about the Trinity...the first Article of Faith in our church is: We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. We believe as the apostles of old that the father and the son and the holy spirit are three separate beings. The way that they are one is in mission and purpose, being to help us all to understand God and Jesus's teachings so that we can follow them and be good people and go to heaven. :)

I hope this helps you to understand us better. :) If you have other questions or concerns please feel free to leave another comment or click on the email me image on my side bar. Please keep my email address private, k? :)
