The Father And The Son
One
of my favorite verses in the New Testament and the most important, I
think, is John 17:3. Jesus is offering His great intercessory prayer
when He says: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the
only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." What does it
mean, 'to know' the Father and the Son? It is to know who they are, what
they are. Our eternal life depends on this. In the four gospels, and
in the writings of the apostles, the nature of God is quite clear. Then
why do we hear so many conflicting opinions on this important
doctrine? There are many verses in the new testament that show that the
Father, Son and the Holy Ghost are three separate and distinct beings.
Though one in purpose, and that purpose being the eternal welfare of our
souls.
Healing The Sick
Several
verses in the New Testament speak of the healing of the sick; the
Epistle of James reads: 'Is any sick among you? Let him call for the
elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil
in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick,
and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they
shall be forgiven him.' James 5:14, 15
In the gospel of Mark we read:
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:18
Mark 6:13 says:
And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
I have had personal experience with this at least twice...The first time was back in the late 1970's. I was living in Provo, Utah, with room-mates. My room-mate and I had gone to bed. And for some reason I just could not sleep. I remember that I kept tossing and turning and moaning. I felt bad, of course, because I didn't want to keep her awake. It was about 2 a.m. when she said, 'Let's call the Elders to give you a blessing.'
I
was just a new member of the church, I didn't know much about
blessings. I just thought she was nuts to call someone and disturb them
at 2 a.m. She called and they came. I don't remember, but I am sure
that they must have talked a bit about what a blessing was. All I
remember is, that they gave me the blessing and left. I went right
to sleep, seemed like immediately. And slept until around 2:00 the
following afternoon. I thought, WOW!
The most recent time was just a month or two ago. I had been having intense, excruciating pains in my head. They were not like regular headaches, or migraines. It was pain unlike anything I had ever felt in my life. This had been going on for an entire week, non-stop. 24/7. Nothing would help it.
So, on the Sunday following this week of agony, I spoke with my home teachers at church. I asked if I could get a blessing. We found a room in the church and they gave me the blessing. I went home, and the pain, which at one time was so bad that it felt like a house was sitting on my head, became tolerable and within an hour or so of being home, the pain was completely gone. WOW! The power of the Priesthood of God!
Is Mormonism Christian, a Cult, or Both?
You are probably thinking to yourself, what was she thinking? You will be surprised at how this one turns out.
In answering this question one must know the answer to this question, just what IS a cult?....The answer will surprise you. And is a cult such a bad thing?

Immortality AND Eternal Life of Man
Heavenly
Father told Moses, "For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring
to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." Pearl of Great Price,
Book of Moses 1:39.
Our Spirits--Yesterday, Today, and Forever
We lived with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ before we were born and will live with them again in the next life....Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? Hebrews 12:9
Continuing Revelation
In
the Old Testament we read: Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he
revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. Amos 3:7. He
continues to do so.
The
Lord revealed his will to his prophets in the Old Testament, to Jesus
and the apostles (who were prophets, seers, and revelators) in the New
Testament. And now in our day, he continues to reveal his will to his
servants, who are also prophets, seers and revelators. Thus we see,
that he is the same yesterday, today, and forever....
Innocence of Little Children
Jesus
said: "Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto
me: for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." Matthew 19:14
